The Citrus County Animal Shelter hosted its first AKC Canine Good Citizen course final exam on Saturday, June 27.
Thirteen owners attended with their dogs, and almost all the canine students passed their test.
The Animal Services Division is considering holding additional classes with exams every 3-4 months in conjunction with its dog obedience training classes, which are available for free to owners who have adopted pets from the Animal Services facility. The current training class has 40 dogs attending.
The division’s therapy dog class, which starts July 11, is already full, and the division is taking names for future classes. Call 726-7660 during office hours for information on the programs.
