TALLAHASSSEE – The Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate campaign today announced that total contributions to his U.S. Senate campaign amounted to more than $4.3 million as of the quarter ending June 30.
“I am humbled by the support that I am receiving from the people of Florida and around the country,” said Governor Crist. I take their support seriously, and continue to work every day to honor the trust and confidence they have placed in me.”
Governor Crist announced his Senate campaign on May 12, 2009, 41 days into the second fundraising quarter. In just 50 days, Governor Crist received contributions from Florida and around the nation for an average of $86,000 per day.
Former Sen. Connie Mack, now Crist campaign co-chairman said, “Clearly, Governor Crist’s record of cutting taxes, fighting for Florida’s students and fighting for the safety, rights and freedoms of all Floridians is resonating with people across the state and around the nation.”
In addition to the support Governor Crist has received from contributors, he has also been endorsed by National Republican Senate Committee Chairman John Cornyn, Sen. Mitch McConnell, Sen. John McCain, Sen. Lamar Alexander, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Sen. Mel Martinez, Congressman Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart.
