state-denise-amber-leeSARASOTA – The jry this afternoon handed down a gulty verdict in the Michael King muder trial, who was charged with killing 21-year-old Denise Amber Lee.

The defense had already launched its tactical move on Wednesday when Assistant Public Defender Jerry Meisner accused a state witness, Robert Salvador, of pulling the trigger and killing Lee. Salvador had spent the hours leading up to Lee’s kidnapping with King at a nearby gun range.

King is charged with abducting, raping and murdering Lee, the mother of two, in January 2008.

There were at least two missed opportunities to have saved this woman’s life: the incompetent 911 dispatcher and the cousin who heard the woman crying for help but was told to “ignore it; it is nothing.” What the #$%&? In what universe do you live where a woman is heard begging from a car (the trunk?) for help, for you to call 911, and you simply accept the word of your relative that “it is nothing.” Meanwhile, your relative is asking to borrow your shovel and other implements. Somehow, I do not think a woman would have been so blase’ about ignoring that cry for help. Too bad they cannot prosecute and convict the a-hole cousin for something as well. He was this woman’s last hope and he completely dropped the ball. Why? Out of loyalty to his cousin? Well, he may not be answerable to the laws of this land, but he will surely have to answer to God for the part he played in this woman’s death. Now as far as that 911 dispatcher is concerned, he needs to resign. He was not up to the task when it counted in this case. The mark of a really good 911 operator is the ability to think quickly and respond appropriately in an emergency. Some 911 calls are fairly routine as far as 911 calls go. For those, you can follow the script. Others are like this call which requires someone with some wisdom and experience who can think on their feet as the situation evolves. Obviously, this guy does not have that ability. He, too, dropped the ball. At one point, he asked the woman, whom he knew to be in a car, who was fearful for her life, if they could turn the music down. Huh! Was she supposed to say to her kidnapper “please turn your music down so the police dispatcher can hear my report of you kidnapping me better”? Thankfully, the person primarily responsible for kidnapping, raping, and murdering this woman has been convicted for doing so. At least the jury did not drop the ball.

Hope they give him the electric chair and until he’s executed, I hope he rots in hell.
