PANAMA CITY BEACH — An 18-month-old who took a nail to his head after his parents allegedly were on a meth-induced binge is doing well, Bay County sheriff’s investigators said Tuesday.

Investigators said the baby’s skull was fractured Sept. 28 after John Paul Huskey, 28, jumped on a chair and the chair broke apart, sending a nail into the 18-month-old’s head.

But instead of calling for help to come to their Beach Drive apartment, the Huskeys wrapped their baby’s head in duct tape and continued to use meth, officials said.

The baby did not receive medical attention until the next morning, when John Paul Huskey called 911 from a cell phone in Calhoun County, investigators said, adding that one of the reasons the couple refused to call for help earlier was because they knew officers would find drugs in their apartment. The parents did not call for help until the next morning, when Jessica Huskey noticed the child had turned blue, officials said.
