On March 1, the Citrus County Division of Solid Waste Management expanded its Mixed Paper Recycling Program by placing containers for mixed paper at the recycling centers at the Beverly Hills Plaza, the Homosassa Lions Club and the Duval Island Boat Ramp parking lot in Floral City.

Mixed paper consists of junk mail, magazines, notebooks, computer printouts, catalogs, fiberboard (such as cereal boxes and beverage cartons), wrapping paper, envelopes, yellow legal paper, colored paper, business and index cards, etc.

For mixed paper items to be acceptable they must be clean and dry. Carbon paper and paper contaminated with foodstuff are not acceptable.

Newspaper and old corrugated cardboard will continue to be accepted, but they must be in put in their separate recycling containers labeled for such. For information, call 352-527-7670 or visit the county Website www.bocc.citrus.fl.us, and click on the green “Recycling” box on the right.
