DAYTONA BEACH -  Florida Highway Patrol officials said Wednesday that they’ve issued the beach patrol officer accused of running over a woman in a beach chair a ticket for careless driving.

Veteran Scott Dowling was in a truck on Daytona Beach a week ago when he ran the woman over near the Lennox approach. Dowling said he was watching for a child in the other direction.

Carol Dalton suffered a broken leg, scrapes and bruises.
