(CNN) — Rafael Nadal is through to the last eight of the Cincinnati Masters, but the world number one had to save a match point before defeating France’s Julien Benneteau in three sets.
The world number one, who had won 36 of his previous 38 matches, rescued a match point in the second set tie-break before scraping through 5-7 7-6 6-2.
The Wimbledon and French Open champion will now face Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis — a shock 7-5 6-4 winner over Wimbledon finalist and seventh seed Tomas Berdych.
