Alaska lawyer Joe Miller’s surprise victory over Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the Republican primary is no doubt also a win for the Tea Party movement.
Miller thanked the small-government Tea Party supporters in a statement posted on his website and echoed a familiar theme about curbing government spending that’s been heard by other upstart candidates challenging incumbents in Congress this year.
In calling for unity among Alaska’s voters, Miller said it is time to “reach out with our core message of taking power from the federal government and bringing it back home to the people. If we continue to allow the federal government to live beyond its means, we will all soon have to live below ours.”
